The Premier League outfit had trailed their local rivals since the 17th minute of the match, after Barry Robson scored a superb left-footed strike to put the Championship side ahead, putting them on course for an unlikely upset. Both teams pushed for a winner during the closing stages, but after Mackems' winger James McClean missed a glorious chance in stoppage time, the tie was destined to go to a replay.
